Do you want to be part of a new collaborative initiative looking to experiment with creative ways of communicating about social issues with the public, politicians and policy makers? Do you want to use your career to make a difference, and reduce inequality?

The Health Foundation is an independent charity committed to bringing about better health and health care for people in the UK.  We are looking for a media and public affairs officer to work as part of a small, start-up style team building a new initiative. This role provides an exciting opportunity to help shape our campaigning work, ensuring that campaigns catch the attention of the media, public and policy makers.

In this role, you’ll use your skills to deliver high quality media relations, use creative and innovative public relations approaches and ideas to get our work noticed. You’ll also support our wider public affairs and stakeholder management work to push for policy change.

The Collaboration’s focus area, the wider determinants of health, is an excitingly complex and broad social policy area to communicate and campaign about, with lots of scope for experimentation over the coming year to get our messaging and approach right. You will be part of developing a clear voice and powerful communications that reaches audiences across the public, private and third sector. Ultimately, you’ll contribute to building a new narrative about how health is shaped; as well as building pressure for policies across government that put good health and wellbeing at their heart.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a media, PR or public affairs professional looking for a varied role that will help the Collaboration to grow its profile and ensure its campaigns achieve impact, helping to play a part in bringing about better health for people in the UK.

We think this role is for you if you have excellent media, public relations and integrated communications skills and are confident playing both lead and supporting roles on a wide range of projects. You’ll have excellent writing and editing skills, an understanding of what makes media worthy content, and experience of building relationships with journalists. You should also have experience in PR / advertising, as well as supporting stakeholder engagement with those in and around government.
