The National Lottery Heritage Fund - Inspiring, Leading and Resourcing the UK’s heritage to create positive and lasting change for people and communities, now and in the future

The National Heritage Lottery Fund is recruiting a permanent Policy and Public Affairs Manager to support our work across the Midlands & East area.  As part of the Business Innovation & Insight team this role is at the heart of the organisation. Our mission is to use our expertise to support and champion the UK’s heritage and demonstrate the transformative potential of National Lottery funding, as well as building new partnerships and funding opportunities.

This key new role has been established to support public affairs, stakeholder engagement and policy development across the Midlands & East area. Working closely with the Head of Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement and the Director for the Midlands & East, you will develop and deliver advocacy, public affairs and wider engagement for The Fund. The team is responsible for public affairs and co-ordination of our stakeholder engagement, including accountability to Parliament, working closely with Governments, devolved administrations and elected representatives across the UK, setting out how we use National Lottery funds generated by players. You’ll also be contributing to policy development internally and externally, and ensuring we are talking to the right people about the right things for heritage. 

You will have experience of public affairs and policy development, allied with experience of engaging with internal and external stakeholders at a senior level. A good knowledge and understanding of the political, policy and social environment is a must.

In return, you’ll be working for the leading and only UK-wide dedicated funder of heritage with ambitions to invest £1.2 billion over five years, including high profile investments of vital national and local significance in the Midlands & East.

Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)

Location: Midlands & East (Cambridge, Nottingham, Birmingham Offices). Please note, due to Covid-19 staff are currently working from home.

Reporting to: Head of Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement (Policy Team, Business Innovation & Insights).
