The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Public Affairs Executive to join our new Public Affairs team. The role will report directly to our Head of Public Affairs.

You will assist with:

  • developing and delivering our public affairs strategy;
  • scanning the political and parliamentary horizon for issues which are relevant to those with serious injury and proactively developing strategies to address them;
  • identifying consultations and calls for evidence which our organisation should respond to and working with key stakeholders to identify grounds for response;
  • drafting consultation responses, position statements and briefings, explaining complex issues in a straightforward manner;
  • developing and maintaining excellent relationships with a wide range of parliamentarians across the party political spectrum, key government officials and policy stakeholders to ascertain and garner support for initiatives;
  • running the firm’s Social Justice Group and engaging staff internally through this and other initiatives with regard to the importance of political engagement;
  • taking a lead on political engagement whilst also having a wider public affairs remit, dealing with the media, PR and external communications, charitable partnerships, marketing and profile raising.

You will ideally:

  • have experience gained within a policy or public affairs role in central or local government, the third sector or the private sector within the UK;
  • have a strong grounding and keen interest in current and public affairs, with a passion for social justice and challenging inequality;
  • have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to develop positive relationships with colleagues at all levels internally and external stakeholders;
  • have a good academic background, however an ability to demonstrate relevant experience will count for more than academics;
  • be hardworking, creative, energetic, and sociable, with excellent organisational and administration skills.
