Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Culmer Raphael is an energy and climate strategy and research consultancy. Our work is focused on improving long-term climate and environmental outcomes.

We are recruiting for an exciting and varied role, reporting to the directors at Culmer Raphael and leading on our political strategy and policy work.

Responsibilities:

  • Campaign strategy: Day-to-day management of our campaigns, strategy and research – including reporting to clients, leading client calls and managing junior staff;
  • Climate, energy and environment policy: Developing expertise on the policy areas we work on, through desk research and conversations with partners, experts and policymakers;
  • Public affairs: Harnessing your pre-existing knowledge of politics and your political network to serve the issues and campaigns on which we work on (both national, regional and international);
  • Communications and media: Developing ideas for media coverage and using media to help develop coverage that is strategically beneficial to a client campaign;
  • Research: Developing ideas for commissioning campaign-relevant research and helping to oversee research work;
  • Network coordination: Managing a network of partners, experts and allies to help lead the strategic campaigns on which we work.

Experience and skills required:

  • Minimum undergraduate degree qualification;
  • Significant work experience in a policy or public affairs related field. Line management experience is not necessary but would be a bonus;
  • Knowledge of policymaking and policy research;
  • Knowledge of UK politics and policymaking;
  • Knowledge of EU and international politics, including international climate and biodiversity norms, would be a bonus;
  • Preferably a strong interest and knowledge of climate and energy policy issues and sympathy with the environmental agenda;

We would expect candidates to be keen to work in our small, characterful office for at least 3 days per week. We are based at China Works, behind Lambeth Bridge.
