The purpose of this role is to provide technical and specialist support in the planning and delivery of political and senior level engagement, helping to develop and consolidate relationships with internal and external partners stakeholders to improve awareness and understanding of our work.
As NRW’s Public Affairs Specialist Advisor, this position will play a leading role in the implementation of NRW’s engagement strategies. Working with the Public Affairs Manager, the post holder will be responsible for providing expert advice on the management of NRW’s organisational and individual relationships with key stakeholders and political audiences.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Excellent communications skills (verbal and written), with the ability to understand and interpret complex information, and to communicate this accurately and effectively to a range of audiences;
2. Ability to develop in-depth knowledge of the organisation, including remit, roles, policies, processes and other decision-making drivers;
3. A strong interest in current affairs, and an excellent understanding of the political environment in both Wales and England, and the context of devolution;
4. A working understanding of dealing with government officials, Ministers, and elected representatives;
5. Experience of building and managing positive working relationships with internal colleagues and with partners and stakeholders across different sectors to support achievement of objectives;
6. Excellent organisational skills and demonstrable experience of planning, prioritising and consistently delivering work to a high standard and by the required deadline;
7. Experience of using a range of digital programmes, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to quickly learn new platforms;
8. Experience of project management or project support (e.g. events);
9. Able to work remotely and flexible working hours in line with business requirements;
