The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), based in Lutterworth in Leicestershire, is the leading professional body for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK.

Working in our office in Lutterworth, we are offering an internship until 31 March 2016 within our Policy and Public Affairs Department. With a degree or professionally recognised qualification in a subject related to the role and with an interest in and knowledge of political affairs, combined with a basic understanding of the workings of the UK Parliament, the Intern will support the Policy and Public Affairs Team to deliver its public affairs strategy.

You will assist with the development and promotion of information and tools around counselling and psychotherapy, researching campaign areas and reviewing research evidence and Government policy: to include summary of new policies highlighting key impacts on BACP and its membership.

With strong verbal, written and presentation skills you will have the ability to communicate to diverse audiences and summarise complex issues into a clear, concise and accessible form. You will have good planning and organisational skills, whether working on your own initiative or as part of the Policy and Public Affairs Team.

Previous experience of working in a political/campaigning environment and an interest in mental health issues and/or counselling and psychotherapy would be advantageous but not essential.
