The British Dental Association is seeking a Committee Officer to join its Policy and Research team. We’re looking for a candidate with strong organisational skills, who can write fluently and communicate confidently, and who would thrive in an organisation dedicated to delivering policy change.

About the Role:

As our Committee Officer, you will be the driving force behind the smooth operation of the BDA's policy-making committees. Your meticulous attention to detail and excellent organisational skills will ensure these committees effectively contribute to decisions on crucial matters such as dentists’ pay, industrial action, and the future of NHS dentistry. Your role will involve:

  • Providing essential administrative and secretarial support to the Policy and Research Team;
  • Serving as committee secretary to the Association’s policy-making committees; representing various sectors of dentistry, ensuring their effectiveness and efficiency;
  • Ensuring committee administration aligns with best practice and the BDA's needs;
  • Being a crucial source of knowledge for the various sectors of dentistry represented by the BDA’s committees.

About You:

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, detailed-oriented with a proactive approach;
  • Proficient in managing complex workloads and competing deadlines;
  • Strong written communication skills, capable of producing technical minutes and reports;
  • Confident and effective communicator with people of varying positions and seniority levels;
  • Team player dedicated to supporting colleagues while also able to work independently;
  • Understanding of trade unions, professional associations, and health policy;
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

The BDA is the voice of dentists and dental students in the UK. We are the trade union, professional association and scientific society for dentists.
