Your role with us
Our External Affairs team focuses on supporting the FCDO’s communications objectives as they build and maintain relationships with influential individuals and organisations. When you join us in this exciting role you’ll work with policy officials, overseas posts, Ministers’ private offices and special advisers to deliver stakeholder engagement of the highest quality. Proactively building effective relationships with your colleagues as you work on policy priorities and develop effective handling that aligns with our engagement strategies, you’ll produce briefings and communications material to promote a better understanding of key issues and initiatives. Mapping and gathering intelligence to identify strategic partners and influence our target audiences, you’ll also analyse the effectiveness of external engagement to help inform current and future strategies.
Who we’re looking for
With experience of working in public affairs, external affairs, government relations or stakeholder relations with an established organisation, you’ll have great interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a straightforward, honest and engaging manner. Capable of offering clear, sound communications advice to both junior and senior colleagues, we’ll expect you to have the resilience to manage multiple projects at the same time. Ready to research, benchmark, scope, design, implement and evaluate to tight deadlines, you’ll also possess a proactive approach to continuous improvement, and a desire to work with others to simplify processes and improve efficiency.
Experience of working with governments or internationally is not essential, a keen interest in foreign affairs and overseas development is.
