The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is one of the world's top competition and consumer agencies. With markets changing fast and the UK leaving the EU we are currently undergoing rapid business expansion, presenting new opportunities in Scotland, including the need for a skilled Policy and Stakeholder Manager to lead the CMA’s engagement and policy work in Scotland. This is an exciting time to join us.

This is a key strategic liaison role that will work closely with and support the Director UK Nations to enable delivery of the commitments in the CMA’s Nations and Regions Strategy. Specifically, the Policy and Stakeholder Manager will lead and be accountable for the CMA’s stakeholder engagement programme in Scotland, influencing policy debate, contributing to building internal CMA capacity on devolved and regional issues and fostering important outreach initiatives, at a time of complex change. This will entail:

  • Ensuring CMA presence at the table and having the organisation’s views taken into account through meetings with ministers, senior officials, policy makers and other elected representatives;
  • Preparing impactful and high quality written advice, briefings and responses for the CMA Senior Executive Team and the CMA Board;
  • Providing strategic advice and advance warning on political issues in Scotland that may have an effect on the delivery of CMA activity;
  • Developing and managing honest and open relationships with stakeholders in Scotland, including enforcement and delivery partners, to improve the CMA’s reputation and effectiveness;
  • Creating opportunities through networking to promote and drive awareness of the CMA’s activity and engagement in Scotland.

The post holder will also have responsibility for the management and ongoing development of two direct reports (Policy and Project Officer, and Office Manager).
