Vacancy Description
TheCityUK is strengthening its team with a new opportunity for an experienced Policy Manager to play a key role working with the Director of Policy & Public Affairs to develop policy positions which support the competitiveness of the UK’s financial and related professional services, in particular financial regulatory policy arising from within the UK, the EU and G20, and produce content for the engagement required to achieve TheCityUK’s strategic policy objectives.
The role will be to:
- work with the Director of Policy & Public Affairs (DP&PA) to deliver the policy work programme to achieve the objectives set;
- contribute to delivery of the agreed strategy for engaging policymakers and public affairs stakeholders with TheCityUK’s policy agenda;
- work closely with the City of London Corporation supporting the work of the International Regulatory Strategy Group (IRSG) and related Committees.
Required Skills & Experience
To be considered eligible for this role, it is essential you:
- Have an understanding of and interest in financial markets and products, economics and public policy;
- Are a “Self-starter” who prioritises tasks, pays attention to detail, is conscientious and takes responsibility and ownership;
- Are a good influencer with excellent written and oral communications skills;
- Have the ability to network, develop relationships and work with senior individuals across a range of organisations;
- Have analytical and report writing skills of a high calibre;
- A willingness to develop in-depth knowledge of policy matters;
- Management experience;
- Must have the right to work in the UK ( we are not a sponsor company).
Ideally we would also like you to have:
- Academic or career experience in financial services or economics;
- Public policy experience;
- Degree in Economics/Political Science.
This role is based in London but may involve travel elsewhere in the UK. TheCityUK office is a small and close knit team with a flexible approach to tasks and responsibilities. It is essential that the candidate appreciates and can work within these conditions.
