The Centre for Progressive Change is looking for a full-time Senior Campaigner to join our Safe Sick Pay campaign team. This role will primarily be focused on bringing MPs and Prospective Parliamentary Candidates on board with the campaign in 'red wall' constituencies, supporting the team to get sick pay reform into the manifesto of all of the major parties.
The ideal candidate will have experience of using advocacy, mobilising and organising effectively.
Job Responsibilities
They will be responsible for:
- Organising key organisations in strategically significant constituencies to put pressure on the MP and Prospective Parliamentary Candidates (PPCs) to publicly support our sick pay reforms;
- Mobilising activists to speak to their MP and PPCs on this issue;
- Building relationships with key MPs across the major parties and encouraging them to support the campaign;
- Building relationships with key businesses in the constituencies to bring them on board with sick pay reform and support them to put pressure on the MPs and PPCs;
- Gathering evidence on parts of the campaign so that we can learn which of our actions are being most effective - this will involve some standardising of the work;
- Raising grant funding for their salary and on-costs (at least £77k).
Skills, Experience and Qualities
You should have:
- A proven track record of winning regional campaigns;
- Excellent advocacy, mobilising and organising experience. Support can be provided to upskill in one area, if other areas are strong;
- An ability to work cross-party and build effective working relationships with MPs from all the major parties;
- An excellent track record of persuading different types of people to support and actively engage in a campaign;
- An ability to be strategic and pragmatic, and take the most effective route to our legislative goals;
- A proven ability of working on multiple competing priorities and campaigning across numerous geographical areas at the same time;
- A demonstrated capacity to raise £77k a year;
- Excellent skills at self-directed work, problem solving and dealing with complexity;
- The ability to be flexible and work in a startup environment with high levels of uncertainty and small campaign budgets, where everyone has to collaborate to get things done outside of their job role;
- A commitment to the Centre for Progressive Change’s strategy, values and culture.
Location: National - the successful candidate must be able to travel to different parts of the country. If in London they will be based in our office or, if outside London, they will be home based.
