Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

Your role as an Adviser is to support the delivery of outstanding political insight, communications and government relations strategy for our clients. You will aid the functioning and growth of GK through researching and sharing intelligence relating to the political, business and communications environment.

This is an entry level role where you will work with corporate Advocacy clients and our Private Equity advisory colleagues to best profile and support GK’s goals.

Job description

  • Assisting day-to-day on client programmes, meeting internal and external deadlines
  • Supporting on client relationships, showing confidence in interactions with clients
  • Supporting senior colleagues by contributing to client development and sell-on opportunities
  • Monitoring the political, policy and regulatory environment for developments of importance to the company and your clients
  • Drafting clear and concise summaries and analysis to be shared with assigned clients in a timely manner
  • Drafting client-ready content, including policy briefings, for client leads to review.
  • Networking effectively outside GK with confidence and demonstrating an appetite to build a professional network
  • Commercial awareness of GK financial objectives, and the importance of ensuring profitable client relationships
  • Spotting and highlighting new business opportunities to Insights and Advocacy teams, and opportunities to grow client accounts and relationships in a timely way
  • Supporting marketing efforts – blogs, social media, events, reports, newsletters

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisation and time management
  • Ability to build good relationships and networks
  • An enthusiasm for developing GK’s commercial policy offering and supporting new business initiatives across the business
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of how policy developments could impact on businesses and organisations
  • Application of creativity and the use of initiative/problem solving
  • A demonstrable interest in politics, policy and current affairs
  • Any consultancy, in-house or Parliamentary experience is desirable
