Cavendish has announced the appointment of Peter White as Head of Government Relations (Scotland), further deepening its UK-wide Government Relations expertise. Peter will lead Cavendish’s Government Relations team in Scotland, helping clients navigate engagement with policymakers in the Scottish Government and parliamentarians in Holyrood.
Peter strengthens Cavendish’s Government Relations offer, extending its coverage across all four nations of the UK with senior, on-the-ground expertise in Holyrood at a time of increasing political complexity. His appointment means clients will benefit from joined-up insight across devolved and reserved policy areas, with Scotland fully integrated into Cavendish’s wider UK public affairs capability.
Peter has a decade of experience working within and alongside Government across the UK. Having worked as a Policy Advisor on Brexit and foreign affairs, and as a Senior Private Secretary working at the intersection of UK-wide and devolved Government, he understands how the machinery of Government operates at both political and official levels. He has also advised a major UK retail bank on navigating UK and Scottish political and policy issues.
The energy, infrastructure, financial services and food & drink sectors are all integral to the Scottish economy and are operating within an increasingly complex and uncertain legislative and policy environment. Cavendish is continuing to deepen its expertise and experience to help clients navigate these changes, while connecting Scottish policy and political dynamics with Westminster and the wider UK political landscape.
Peter White, Head of Government Relations (Scotland), Cavendish, said: “Scotland’s policy landscape is evolving rapidly, and the interaction between Holyrood and Westminster has never been more important. Having worked inside Government and alongside policymakers across the UK, I understand how decisions are really made and how influence is built over time. I’m excited to be leading Cavendish’s Government Relations work in Scotland and helping clients engage effectively with decision‑makers to advance their policy priorities.”
James Bird, Head of Government Relations, Cavendish, said: “Peter’s appointment marks a significant step forward for Cavendish’s Government Relations offer. Having senior expertise based in Scotland gives our clients true four‑nations coverage for the first time, while strengthening how our UK public affairs teams work together across devolved and reserved policy areas.”
