Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

We are looking for dynamic individual with a politics, policy, public affairs or government background, to help develop and oversee our political monitoring service at Grasshopper. 

We want someone with strong political acumen, great project management skills, and a track record of delivering in a fast-paced environment.

The role

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our growing corporate affairs team and play a central role in developing and managing our political and media monitoring service.  

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast growing communications team in Cardiff, and work with clients that are helping shape the future of Wales and the UK. You will play a pivotal role in enabling us to continue to grow our already well established political and media monitoring service, ensuring we can provide clients with high quality and timely political and government intelligence and advice. 

Key qualities and skills we are looking for:

  • Experience of working in a government, political or public affairs environment with proven understanding of Welsh public affairs landscape;
  • Proven track record of project management and ability to coordinate multiple deliverables and manage quality outputs;
  • Ability to collate and summaries large amounts of information, and ensure it is presented in a useful and accessible form for the end user;
  • Experience of managing team members beneficial;
  • Strong writing and communication skills;
  • A team player with the ability to develop strong working relationships with a range of team members, clients and stakeholders;
  • Capable of managing a challenging and varying workload that can change at short notice;
  • A fluency in Welsh speaking, reading and writing could be beneficial but not essential.

Rewards and benefits package

  • Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 depending on experience;
  • Part-time or term-time working arrangements considered;
  • Flexible work approach with core hours 10am-3pm;
  • Annual bonus (subject to company performance);

  • Two-week paid sabbatical provided every three years;
