PLMR’s Built Environment Team is a specialist planning, property, and built environment division within PLMR, working with housebuilders, commercial developers, and investors providing services to a range of clients across London, and the South East of England. So, an interest in property, planning, and regional economic growth is advantageous.

PLMR is a successful, fast-growing communications agency with a dynamic, vibrant team that works with high-profile clients and sectors to deliver public affairs, public relations, and digital solutions for its clients. The business operates across the UK, with offices in Birmingham, London, East of England, and Scotland. Travel within the UK, from time to time, is an important part of the role. You may also be required to work evenings and weekends on occasion. A full driving license whilst not essential, is desirable.

In this role, you will hit the ground running in a very hands-on position, working within a small and energetic team where you will look after clients in the built environment sector.

The ideal candidate will be client focused, results orientated, highly organised, calm under pressure, dynamic and passionate. Experience within a PR agency or in-house communications role is desirable, and the candidate should have an understanding of managing multiple stakeholder groups, know how to generate and contribute ideas, craft engaging and well-articulated copy for our engagement materials, and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Main responsibilities:

Client delivery

  • Accurately presenting and adapting client messaging for different audiences, including digital channels;
  • Developing client relationships – ensuring that the client feels well serviced, able to call for advice at any time, and maximising the opportunities for account development;
  • Showing care and attention to detail – that work is completed on time to the appropriate standards, anticipating client demands and ensuring that PLMR is always ‘adding value’ to its clients;
  • Competent at liaising with a range of key stakeholders at any given time, including politicians at all levels, and any relevant interest groups;
  • Event management, including consultation events, digital promotion, and physical promotional events;
  • Developing and maintaining an expertise in client sectors and related policy fields;
  • Responding to requests for information from clients which may be at short notice;
  • Writing political briefing materials, press releases, stakeholder letters, and other consultation materials, including but not limited to; exhibition boards, website copy, leaflet, flyers and posters;
  • Using social media and digital channels to help promote ley messaging for clients and PLMR;
  • Providing regular copy for the PLMR website – blogging, case studies, features, comment;
  • Drafting appropriate responses to community consultation enquiries;
  • Creating final press releases which need minimal alterations on review;
  • Accurately monitoring the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires, social media channels and blogs, to help keep ahead of any emerging issues;
  • Proof-reading all written material.

PLMR growth

  • Assisting senior colleagues in creating and delivering winning proposals for new business pitches;
  • Promoting a positive, professional image of PLMR’s Built Environment Team as a market leader to external audiences through networking and representing the company at events, and on social media;
  • Relationship building and networking with colleagues, clients, and the media.

Internal

  • Providing information for cost recharging to the finance department in a timely manner as requested;
  • Developing a positive professional relationship with PLMR colleagues, and contributing to a thriving day to day working environment;
  • Communicating effectively internally to manage work levels and deliverables;

Skills / attributes required

  • Educated to degree standard with proven experience in a similar role, or equivalent qualification / work experience;
  • An understanding of, or interest in, policy and governance around planning, regeneration, and development is desirable;
  • Ability to write persuasively to convey client messages accurately for different media and audiences;
  • A good knowledge of current events, the UK political systems, particularly at a local level;
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to conceptualise, analyse, and write persuasive arguments;
  • Experience in executing messaging on social media and other digital channels to support strategic communications goals;
  • Highly motivated, well organised, and able to work under your own initiative;
  • A can-do attitude and a passion for achieving results;
  • Flexibility – capable of juggling more than one task / client at the time and prioritising workload accordingly;
  • A confident personality with the ability to contribute new ideas to a team environment;
  • A strong work ethic and a sense of humour.

Location: Westminster, London – The team currently uses a combination of working from home and the office.
