A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Senior Government Affairs Advisor for a public sector body.

You will:

  • Support the Head in planning and delivering a full programme of business and communications with Government and Parliament for your designated policy areas;
  • Contribute to regulatory policy-making by advising the organisation of external risks, attitudes and developments;
  • Build good working relationships with stakeholders; help co-ordinate organisation’s wider external relationships;
  • Prepare all necessary written materials and briefings for the work and contacts involved.

You will have:

  • Experience of either leading on taking bills through parliament or working very closely in private office of a minister or MP who has been involved in this;
  • Excellent political/governmental understanding and aptitude, gained through direct experience of working in Whitehall/Westminster;
  • A keen practical intelligence, with demonstrated ability to master a broad and complex policy brief;
  • Strong discipline, organizational skills and ‘client-focused’ approach to work: someone who will pre-empt and cover off every last detail;
  • Proven ability to gain the respect and trust of senior colleagues and stakeholders; ability to manage upwards/sideways;
  • A flexible approach – willingness to respond to changing timescales and priorities and the capacity and willingness to work varied hours when necessary for events or deadlines.
