The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

The British Beer and Pub Association is the leading trade association representing the interests of the brewing and pub sectors.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced public affairs professional to join our small Communications and Public Affairs Team. This position reports to the Director of Public Affairs and will be based in our offices in London although travel within the UK will be required.

Key elements of the role include:

  • Working with policy makers and other key stakeholders at Westminster and in the devolved administrations to promote the beer and pub industry;
  • Briefing members on relevant policy issues and latest public policy developments;
  • Maintaining the BBPA website and social media presence;
  • Preparing BBPA member communications, newsletters and press releases as required;
  • Monitoring Parliamentary proceedings;
  • Advising team members on areas of political activity relevant to their policy specialisation;
  • Helping execute BBPA campaigns overseeing the design and print of campaign materials, assisting with the organisation of events, conferences and seminars as required
  • Helping to service our regional associations.

The Candidate

  • Proven experience in a policy/public affairs role;
  • Agency experience an advantage;
  • Understanding of UK political institutions and processes;
  • Understanding of issues affecting the industry;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
  • Strong ICT and desktop publishing skills;
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a busy small team;
  • Experience of integrated PA and comms campaigns desirable
  • Experience of events management preferable.

Package

A salary in the range of £25k to £32K and full benefits package commensurate with skills and experience.
