Role
TfL require a dedicated Stakeholder Communications Manager to lead, plan and co-ordinate delivery of a communications and engagement strategy that will support the delivery of the Northern line extension. This will be part of the wider Rail & Underground External Relations strategy.
The job holder will lead and work with programme managers in London Underground to ensure that stakeholder and customer engagement and communications is consistent and joined up across the various projects within the programme.
The Stakeholder Communications Manager will work collaboratively with colleagues in Rail & Underground External Relations, the NLE contractor (Ferrovial Agroman Laing O’Rourke), the Press Office, Surface Transport, Marketing, Public Affairs, and Employee Communications and Engagement to ensure that external engagement activities are integrated, meet with TfL priorities, support the local area and support delivery of the vision for the future of the Tube.
The job holder will provide strategic stakeholder communications advice on these programmes to the Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Head of External Relations and to Directors and Senior Managers in London Underground and in Group Marketing and Communications.
Knowledge
- Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience;
- Knowledge of London’s political structure is essential with an understanding of the Greater London Assembly and Transport for London being desirable;
- Understanding of CSR and how this can support overall business objectives is desirable;
- Knowledge of public transport issues and structure is desirable.
Skills
- Excellent analytical and planning skills;
- Excellent written and oral communications and presentational skills;
- Ability to work with and influence people at all levels;
- Ability to work to high standards under pressure and to prioritise effectively.
Experience
- Proven experience in leading and delivering communications;
- Experience of working in a changing internal environment with demonstrated ability of maintaining focus and delivery on target;
- Experience of managing staff is desirable;
- Management of suppliers towards delivering an event or producing printed material is desirable;
- Experience in a cross-section of corporate communication functions, which should include some specific stakeholder communications experience in the transport sector is desirable.
