Adam Lang has been appointed a director at Carnegie UK, the charitable foundation focussed on improving collective wellbeing across the UK and Ireland through policy and advocacy work.
The University of Glasgow graduate joins Carnegie UK in mid-March from Nesta - the UK’s innovation agency for social good - where he led their operations in Scotland for four years. Prior to this, Lang was head of policy and communications for Shelter Scotland.
Sarah Davidson, chief executive of Dunfermline-based Carnegie UK, said: “We’re thrilled to have Adam join us as our director of change and collaboration. His extensive leadership and advocacy experience will be a huge asset to our team.
“Adam offers us perspectives gained in another UK-wide organisation and brings enthusiasm for practical change, policy experimentation and reform.”
Adam Lang said: “Carnegie UK has both a proud history and a mission that’s as relevant and important today as it was a century ago. I’ve been impressed by Sarah and her team, and I’m looking forward to helping them grow their impact across the UK and Ireland.”
Jennifer Wallace, the foundation’s director of policy and evidence, will work with Adam to manage the organisation’s policy team and programmes.
In September Carnegie UK appointed David Emerson as their new chair, who succeeded former Permanent Secretary Sir John Elvidge. In the same month, they announced a new head of communications post filled by Stuart Mackinnon.

The charitable foundation operates with 17 members of staff and 14 trustees and is funded by an endowment left by Andrew Carnegie in 1913.
