Ahead of the Welsh Assembly elections, a new political and public relations consultancy - Gorse Cover - has been launched by Nicolas Webb. Webb recently moved on after eight years at South West based communications consultancy Meeting Place Communications (MPC) where he was Director of MPC Cymru.

Webb was the Conservative’s 2015 Parliamentary Candidate for Newport West and has also stood for election to the National Assembly for Wales. He is a trustee of the Welsh Refugee Council and Chairman of Newport Civic Society.

In addition to political consultancy, Newport-based Gorse Cover is offering a range of public relations and customer / community consultation services, working across the UK, but specialising in devolved and local politics with a specific focus on Wales and the emerging city regions in England.

Commenting on the launch, Nick Webb said:

"In Wales we still have a relatively young democracy and engagement levels are not as good as they should be. I want Gorse Cover to not just be a successful business in its own right, but also to contribute to improving civic engagement in Wales."
