We are seeking an outstanding candidate to become a Communications and Engagement Officer within our Communications and External Affairs team. This role offers the successful candidate an exciting and unique opportunity to ensure the views of the UK public are at the heart of the restoration and renewal of their historic and iconic Parliament building.

Reporting to the External Affairs Manager, the Communications and Engagement Officer will help design, deliver, evaluate, and communicate public engagement and stakeholder engagement activities. They will need to draw on audience insight and work collaboratively with external partners and stakeholders to ensure that engagement activity effectively reaches those targeted.

The Communications and Engagement Officer will also help to collate, analyse and interpret feedback gathered during engagement activity, so that it can be communicated within the Programme and more widely, to ensure the views of the public inform the restoration project and decisions at every stage.

The successful candidate will have experience of delivering creative public and stakeholder engagement activities with a range of audiences, both on- and off-line. Confident yet empathetic, they will have excellent relationship building, influencing and communication skills. Equally, they will have clear organisational and project management skills, with the ability to drive forward and deliver activities to deadlines and budgets, working collaboratively with others. They will demonstrate good knowledge of public and stakeholder engagement best practice and of statutory requirements including data protection and safeguarding of children and vulnerable people.

Terms and conditions

  • Contract type: Fixed term;
  • Duration: 3 years, with the possibility of an extension;
  • 30 days annual leave entitlement;
  • Salary circa £41,000 per annum.
