The National Gallery, founded in 1824, houses a uniquely important collection of some 2400 pictures of European art spanning seven centuries. At its heart is the commitment to engage the widest possible audience with the collection.
The Press, PR & Public Affairs department is responsible for our relationships with the media and our stakeholders.
Reporting to the Head of Press, PR & Public Affairs, this is a key role in keeping stakeholders informed of the National Gallery’s purpose and building positive support for its strategic plans and activities. The candidate will develop Public Affairs campaigns and activities that seamlessly integrate with other communications, in particular as the Gallery looks forward to celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2024.
The successful candidate will be someone with an impressive range of established contacts with stakeholders across Government, Parliament, within London and in the arts and culture sector. We are looking for someone with degree level or equivalent in an arts and museum sector.
