PPC Watch: Chris Philp

Connect takes a close look at one half of the “posh-off” in the marginal of Croydon South…

Chris Philp is a multi-millionaire Conservative donor and serial entrepreneur who has founded and sold a number of successful businesses. Drawing on his own experience of “making it” to Oxford University after attending a south London state grammar school, he set up Next Big Thing, a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style charity working with young people to get them interested in business. Reportedly describing himself as a “Thatcherite and patriot,” he relies heavily on his real-world experience in his campaigning, but also has close political ties. He previously worked as Chairman of the Conservative-leaning think tank Bow Group, and as an adviser to then Shadow Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley.
