Jack Abbott (L) with Patrick CousensPLMR Group’s award-winning Energy and Sustainability team has welcomed Jack Abbott as a Senior Account Manager.

Abbott joins from the Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology (REA), the UK’s largest renewable energy trade association, where he was PR and Communications Manager for two years. Abbott has recently led the REA’s response to the Energy Generator Levy and was the lead author and editor of REview22, the REA’s ‘state of the industry’ annual report.

He is also heavily involved in politics, and is Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Ipswich, adding to PLMR’s strong Labour offer.

Abbott adds to a rapidly growing energy and sustainability practice which holds British Solar Renewables, InterGen and Biffa among its client roster.

Revenues from energy and sustainability work grew by 66% in the last financial year, and the agency was Highly Commended as Communications Agency of the Year at the 2022 BusinessGreen Awards, having previously been named Agency of the Year at the British Renewable Energy Awards.

More broadly, PLMR Group continues to expand, with the acquisition of HealthComms in 2022, after agencies Advent and Genesis joined the group in 2021.

Abbott is ‘returning home’, after working for Genesis between 2016 and 2017.

Jack Abbott, PLMR’s new Senior Account Manager, said: “I’m really pleased to have joined PLMR at an exciting period for the agency. They continue to go from strength to strength, and I have been struck by the ambition, determination and professionalism that runs through the Group. They have also been incredibly welcoming and accommodating and I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Patrick Cousens, Group Board Director and Head of Energy and Sustainability, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Jack to our team. This is a really crucial time for energy policy in the UK, and Jack’s experience of the sector, knowledge of the political landscape and success in gaining national, regional and local media coverage will be invaluable assets for our team and our clients.”
